Reuben Cohen has been with Lurssen Mastering since it opened its doors. He brings a contemporary and innovative approach to the craft of mastering, while maintaining the tried and true technical methods and skills he learned from his mentor, four-time Grammy winner Gavin Lurssen. He has that special talent essential to success in the mastering field - an ability to understand the artist's creative concepts. It is the natural skill of a true musician's engineer. Reuben goes to great lengths to achieve the vision of the artist.
Reuben was awarded a Latin Grammy in November 2010 for his work on Diego Torres' album "Distinto." He also worked on the soundtrack of the international movie phenomenon Slumdog Millionaire, which won the Grammy for Best Soundtrack in 2010. The soundtrack also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score and two Academy Awards, one for Best Original Music Score and the other for Best Original Song for "Jai Ho".
He has mastered albums, singles and/or compilations for artists such as Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, Incubus, Snoop Dogg, Tyrese, Skylar Grey, Little Feat, Dev, Rob Zombie, Ingrid Michaelson, Marc Cohn, and Scott Weiland. Soundtracks include, Slumdog Millionaire, Pitch Perfect, Despicable Me, Across The Universe, Identity Thief, and Bridesmaids.
Reuben also has mastered many hit radio singles, including, "Nothin' On You" by B.o.B. featuring Bruno Mars that was nominated for a Grammy in 2011. Other radio singles include "Billionaire" by Travis McCoy featuring Bruno Mars; "Girls On The Dance Floor" and "G6" by FM (Far East Movement); "Fantasy Girl" by Marty James featuring Baby Bash and "Round 2" by The Cataracts.
